Michael Jackson’s biggest rival, Prince dies at 57
The crooner who brought the world countless hits, such as “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry,” has died.
Prince was aged 57 at the time of his death.
According to The Huffington Post and The Associated Press, the singer’s publicist confirmed the tragic news. TMZ was the first to report the news of his death.
The award-winning artist died on Thursday. April 21, at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.The cause of death has yet to be released.
Earlier this week, the performer was treated for flu after his plane made an emergency landing.
A representative for Prince told TMZ that the singer was feeling under the weather during his shows last week and began to feel worse on the plane. After the emergency landing, he was treated at a hospital and released three hours later.
Mirrors UK reports that Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud said police responded to a medical call at 9.43am and the crime lab and medical examiner are on scene.
A reporter from local TV station KSTP, Farrah Fazal, tweeted this afternoon: “BREAKING: Deputies say they are now doing “death investigation” at Prince’s PaisleyPark recording studios near Minneapolis.
